San Juan Island Yak Trip
San Juan Islands Washington

The first thing Blevin was cunserd with was were to put all that stuff that he thought he could not live with out. Ha! You thought it would all fit in your small round hatches in your yak. You carefully sorted every little thing and thru out the mini espresso machine and the two gallon water jugs. Nevertheless, the guitars and congas always fit on top. We joke about using the guitars as emergency paddles if we ever broke one.

A shot of Point Doughty on Orcas Island with Mount Rainer in the background a few years earlier we experienced a pod of orcas here.

One of many excellent beaches on Sucia Island, there are too many to count and there all public so get out there and enjoy them.

This sunset says it all a picture is worth a thousand words.

Nothing like liven out of dry bags “ Ha Blevin, which yellow bag is the TP in”.

Mushroom rocks above water and if you look closely you will see a giant granite bolder in the water hurled out of a volcano thousand of years ago and landed here. Do you think it might have surprised the native indians that have lived here four over two thousand years.

Miller Time chased by rogue Bull Kelp.

Miller Time diving for dinner, in this case crabs, YakCamp setup in the background in the Hobbit Woods.

Sitting on a cliff up on Point Doughty on Orcas Island note are destination Sucia Island in the background 3 miles away. On this very long crossing to Sucia Blevin came up with a million dollar idea resulting for drinking too much beer before we left Point Doughty from what turned out to be a 2 hour crossing. His Nalgenene bottle became his best friend, it was the funniest thing I have seen, Blevin squirming for position running in a three knot side currant. After we landed he wanted to remarket the bottles to kayaks as PeeBuddy and for the smaller man PeeBuddy Jr.

Baby Sealion sunning it self-lying out on the rocks great natural camouflage for when the transient Orca whales come.

The sunsets on Susia Island are the finest I have ever seen. This one was at Shallow Bay “Miller Time fishing in the foreground” Canadian Gulf Island in the background.
